There is a particular difficulty and a particular necessity when it comes to forgiving other Christians.
The difficulty for me is this: She should have known better. She’s a Christian. She’s supposed to treat me like Christ treated others. And she didn’t.
But here’s why it particularly necessary: When Jesus hung on the bloody cross, and the Father poured out his wrath upon him, the Father’s anger towards her offensive was full. It was complete. It was just. It was terrible. It has been paid for.
I do not need to merely overlook her offense. It was taken care of. And by God’s mercy he took care of it himself.
